TODAY'S launch of www.uaecricket.com is expected to fill a huge void in domestic cricket both
locally and internationally, according to its creators.
The website, developed by Sharjah-based youngster Syed Azeem Afzal, is one of a kind and going by
the prowess of his previous web creations, should be a big hit.
"I developed the site in one month after getting the idea from my dad," Syed said yesterday.
"As far as I know there is nothing for domestic cricket anywhere in the world and that's
why we have designed this site." The feedback, according to the 16-year-old internet expert, is
big. "We have been getting an excellent response from the UAE and also England where the
cricketers and clubs have shown interest," Syed said. His twin brother, Syed Wasim, will be
updating the site which will cover all cricket in the UAE
Syed Azeem and his brother Wasim work on the new cricket site on the domestic and international
levels.
According to his father, Syed Naseem Afzal, uaecricket.com "will also extend to diverse services
to the community including free web based e-mail, classifieds, chat with famous cricketers around
the world, online cricket shop, competitions, featuring past tournaments, discussion boards and
team statistics."
The creators of cricket's latest web site are inviting clubs to register with them so that player
profiles, club activities and team statistics could be posted. Syed, who finished his schooling
at Ibn Secna, Sharjah, last year, is already known among the UAE internet community and has his
own website: www.activproductions.com, which is his virtual office.
He has also won awards from the US for his works, said his proud dad.
