THE exclusive web site for cricket in the UAE will be formally launched on Sunday.
The site which can be accessed at www.uaecricket.com is the first internet portal that
is being exclusively dedicated for local cricket in the UAE.
"Everything is on schedule and we are ready to launch," said Azeem Afzal, the 16-year old who
has created and designed the site. "This site will go a long way in spreading the message of
cricket from the UAE," he added.
Azeem pointed out that everything for the launch had been ready, but the actual launch of the
site had to be kept in abeyance for a couple of days as they were in the process of latching the
portal onto a server with a bigger capacity.
"Now that this thing has been sorted out, we are ready to launch," Azeem added.
The marketing wing of the site is being looked after by the third brother, Shahzad who was the
captain of the ECB Colts when the team toured the UK in 1994.
"This is just the beginning. We have lined up a lot of things for the immediate future,"
Shahzad said.
To start with, the site will be covering domestic tournaments, which are currently being
played in thf UAE.
"Another thing that might, attract local clubs is the concept of finding players from within
the country for the forthcoming season," Shahzad said.
The site has a separate slot dedicated to players along with their statistics throughout the
season. "In case a particular team is on the lockout for a player, all they have to do is access
the website and choose."
The three-member team is scheduled to meet with oficials from the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB)
in the near future.
