Sharjah C.C. snub Al Badar C.C.

A brilliant 61 off 30 balls including 7 fours and half a dozen sixes from veteran Mansoor Pasha enabled Sharjah C.C. to subdue Al Badar C.C. by 5 wickets in the ongoing Bukhatir League 'B' Division - 30 overs, conducted by the Sharjah Cricket Council.

Set to chase a stiff 218 for victory, openers Mansoor and Jamil outgunned the rivals with a top performance as the duo raced to 78 before being separated. Jamil (65 off 39 balls with 3 fours and 5 sixes) played an equally combative knock to take the winds out of the hapless opponents as the openers ensured a fine victory in mere 23.1 overs.

Earlier Al Badar had batted well to post a fine total of 217 for 6 in the allotted 30 overs. Their openers Manal Siddique (44) and skipper Aamir Salaria (24) too out up a good opening stand of 75 but at a much leisurely pace. Later Junaid Shakeel (46) and Kashif Pasha (47) carried the team along to put up a good total at the end. Skipper Irfan Ansari (3 for 42) was the pick of the bowlers with good figures.

Star C.C. off to a flying start

Star C.C. made a successful debut when they scored a comfortable 55 runs victory over A-One C.C. Good teamwork was the hallmark of their victory as Shahid (43), Iqbal (28), Mohd. Aslam (37 n.o.) and a generous dose of 33 extras including as many as 27 wides allowed them to put up an adequate 193 for 9 in 30 overs. Siddique bowled well and returned impressive figures of 4 for 26.

A brilliant spell then from man of the match Imran (4 for 31) undermined their rivals as he ran through the top order to reduce their rivals to a hopeless 34 for 5 in no time. Though Farman (63) did his best to stem the slide, the damage caused by Imran was proved decisive as Abdul Razzak (3 for 26) took over to complete the job in company of Azmat (2 for 31) to round off a good victory.

Tellichery outclass Noor Sunflower

R.R. Tellichery proved too strong for Noor Sunflower whom they outclassed by a big margin of 77 runs to continue their impressive run.

A competent batting performance saw them posting a good total of 213 for 8 in the allotted 30 overs. Gopal was their top scorer with a well-made 72 off 50 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes while Tamim Ansari (46) and Harish (28) made useful contributions. Aslam (3 for 29) was in fine form and took the bowling honours.

The batting of Noor Sunflower let them down badly as the fall of wickets at regular intervals did not allow them to settle down and they ultimately caved in for a small total of 136 to hand over a big victory. Imran (29), Babar (24) and Amir (20) resisted briefly while Zilka (3 for 21) and veteran Jeetu Mehra (2 for 22) caused their downfall.

CTC stumbles again

Seven Seas Strikers were the other victors of the day as they overpowered out of form CTC Club by 51 runs. Man of the match Zubair (74 off 56 balls) led the way as he helped his team put up a good total of 221 for 9 in the 30 overs. Good support from Hormazd (31), Irfan (27) and Saleem (24) came handy while Rehan (3 for 6), Hafiz (2 for 42) and Rizwan (2 for 37) bowled well.

CTC, in reply, made a slow but steady reply but found the going tough against a tidy attack. Fall of wickets at crucial junctures also did not help their cause and they fell behind the asking rate that ultimately proved to be their undoing as they were bowled out for 171 in 27.4 overs. Prakash (63 off 54 balls with 6 fours and six) resisted gamely in company of Rehan who scored a run-a -ball 44 but the rest of the batsmen were a big disappointment. Salim (3 for 23) and A Faraz (3 for 3) shared the bowling honours.
