Solanki Constructions ruins Sharjah C.C's party

Dark horse of the tournament, Solanki Constructions caused a mild flutter when they spoiled the unbeaten record of once mighty Sharjah C.C. by beating them by a comfortable margin of 32 runs in the ongoing Bukhatir League 'B' Division - 30 overs, conducted by the Sharjah Cricket Council.

Opener Jehangir was the hero of the day for them as he lashed a quick fire 77 to steer his side to an imposing 241 for 9 in 29 overs while Aslam Ghauri (41) played second fiddle. Fauz (3 for 44) was the most successful bowler.

Sharjah C.C. in reply though tried gamely but the huge task proved a big ask as they ultimately fell short by 32 runs. Wajahat made a well-struck 57 with 3 fours and 4 sixes while A Rehman (3 for 34), Mukhtar (2 for 23) and Abdul Latif (2 for 40) combined well to undermine the efforts of their rivals.

R.R. Tellichery win opener

R.R. Tellichery were in fine nick as they opened their campaign in style and subdued inform DULSCO with surprising ease in a key clash of the group.

They should be indebted to their bowlers who did a commendable job and dismissed the powerful DULSCO for a low score of 130. Gopal was the surprise package of the day as he returned enviable figures of 4 for 9 runs and caused the maximum damage after Nasir CTK (2 for 28) and Zilka (3 for 24) had softened the top order. Opener Azeem held the crumbling innings together with a defiant 68 off 64 balls with 7 fours and a solitary six and stood tall amongst the ruins.

Team efforts spurs ISC to victory

Perennial winners Indian Sports Club and Oman Insurance too proved their pedigree and won predictably with comparative ease to maintain their unbeaten run.

While ISC were impressive when they handed a big 76 runs defeat to Evergreen. Oman Insurance did not lag far behind as they too scored an equally impressive 6 wickets victory over Noor Sunflower.

Though none of the ISC batsmen sparkled to play an innings of substance, still they managed to post a big total of 225 all out in 27.5 overs. Excellent teamwork was their hallmark as all the top guns like Sunil (31), Tarun (33), Devender (40) and Shaji (43) contributed to the final total. Salehzada (3 for 28) and Wasim (2 for 40) took the bowling limelight.

Evergreen in reply could not hit the kind of form needed to overhaul the total and folded for 147 in 29.3 overs. Sohail (27) and tail ender Nasir (24) were the main scorers while the bowling honours were shared by Tarun, Ambey and man of all season Devender with two wickets apiece.

Oman Insurance coast to victory

The Oman Insurance bowlers also stuck to their task and bowled out Noor Sunflower for a paltry 136 in 23.2 overs. Imran (3 for 32) returned impressive figures while Afzal (2 for 17) bowled well. Five different bowlers shared the rest of the wickets while Asif (27) and Satish (29) resisted briefly.

Faced with a simple task of scoring 137 for victory, Oman Insurance achieved the target in only 18.4 overs with an eye on the run rate. The two Butts, Imran (41) and Ejaz (40 n.o.) again rose to the occasion to round off a good day in the office while Aslam (2 for 31) was the successful bowler for Noor Sunflower.
