Ajman Lions stun Al Badar C.C.

Minnows Ajman Lions caused a major upset when they pipped fancied Al Badar C.C. by a narrow margin of 4 runs in their opening match of the Bukhatir League 'B' division, conducted by the Sharjah Cricket Council.

Though Al Badar did reasonably well to dismiss Ajman Lions for modest 167 in 24.4 overs, their batting let them down which appeared rusty in the opening tie of the season. Veteran wily fox Aamir Salaria's fine effort (4 for 38) went in vain as Al Badar slumped on their way and finished short by 4 runs despite being sitting pretty at 88 for 1 in 10 overs at one stage, losing as many as 8 wickets for 75 runs in the next 15 overs. Amjad Ali (61) and Sohail (33) were the main run getters for Ajman Lions while Manal. Javed (54) and Junaid Saleem (66) excelled for Al Badar.

The due added 121 runs at breakneck speed for the 8th wicket to bring back new life into the game. Their heroics, however, came rather too late as Applied C.C. still romped home with a comfortable margin.
