Debutante National Bank whip Applied C.C.

Debutante National Bank of Dubai stormed into the knockout stage in style when they whipped Applied C.C. by a mammoth margin of 193 runs in the ongoing Bukhatir League 'B' Division - 25 overs event, conducted by the Sharjah Cricket Council.

A swashbuckling century from Remy Rodriguez and a rare haul of six wickets from Mohsin marked the overwhelming win for NBD.

Remy Rodriguez was in great nick and was involved in a blazing 127 runs partnership for the opening wicket in company of Waseem who too batted exceedingly well. The duo took complete control of the innings with increasing authority and batted the opponents out of the game. Remy blasted a fine 107 that included 13 fours and 3 sixes while Waseem kept pace with him and stroked a splendid 67 that included 4 sixes. Their dismissal brought their rivals some respite, though NBD still ended at a big total of 240 for 7 in the allotted 25 overs. Shahbaz (3 for 33) bowled well along with Jafar (2 for 30) and it was mainly their effort that retrieved the situation to some extent as NBD slumped from 22 for 2 to 240 or 7 in the last 5 overs.

Facing an uphill task, Applied C.C. in reply could not apply themselves and inexplicably caved in meekly without a fight and were shot out for a surprisingly low total of 47. Mohsin was the destroyer as he wrecked the innings with amazing figures of 6 for 12 in company of Nazir who snared 3 for 12. The duo made merry as wickets fell like nine pins in which Applied C.C. slumped from 28 for 1 to 47 all out to concede defeat by a record margin. Mohsin's brilliant spell won him the joint man of the match award with Remy.

Powerful DULSCO continue relentless march

Powerful DULSCO continued their relentless march and added another scalp when they subdued Emirates Abela by 28 runs.

An unbeaten 68 from Saqib and a useful 43 from Azim laid the foundation of the eventual total of 192 for 6 put up by DULSCO who were not allowed to control the game by Emirates Abela who did reasonably well to contain the strong batting line up. Consistent Taskeen (28) and Rashid (21) provided support while veteran Fonseka (2 for 32) did a commendable job.

A rare 5-wicket hail from Irfan Gul of DULSCO undermined Emirates Abela who started rather well and registered a fine 66 run partnership for the opening wicket between Rafiq and Murtaza who stroked an identical 31 runs each. But once the promising partnership was broken, Irfan Gul stepped in to cause the damage in a remarkable spell as the middle order of Emirates Abela lost their way. Fiaz was the other bowler who worked in tandem and returned impressive figures of 3 for 32.
