Evergreen scrap past Star C.C.

In a low scoring match, Evergreen C.C. scraped past Star C.C. by a narrow margin of two wickets in the ongoing Bukhatir League 'B' Division - 25 overs event conducted by the Sharjah Cricket Council.

High flying Star C.C. were brought to their knees when they succumbed to a low total of 134 all out in 21.2 overs thanks to the fine bowling performance from Nasser who bowled well to pick up three wickets for 17 runs. He got excellent support from Saleh Zada (3 for 29) and others as Evergreen C.C. did well to dismiss them for a low total. Opener Jarnail (42) top scored for his side and he got good support from Iqbal (39).

Set to overhaul a none too difficult target, Evergreen C.C. seemed to be cruising to victory at 96 for 2 but a major collapse saw them slump to 105 for 7, losing 5 wickets in the process for mere 9 runs. However they scampered to the target in a tight finish for the loss of another wicket to register a close victory.

Tariq Iqbal (33), man of the match Nasser (22) and Sohail (31) were the principle scorers while the fine effort of Alam (3 for 18) and Azmat (2 for 20) went in vain.

Oman Insurance win over Noor Sunflower

In a high scoring match, Oman Insurance put up a strong display and beat Noor Sunflower by 6 wickets.

Shafiq and Afzal excelled for them as the duo carved out a match winning 109 runs partnership for the unbroken fifth wicket that sealed the fate of the match. Shafiq compiled a fine unbeaten 69 off only 41 balls with 8 fours and a six while Afzal was at his ruthless best and blazed his way to an unbeaten 58 off mere 22 balls with 3 fours and 5 sixes. Their murderous onslaught put paid to whatever chances Noor Sunflower might have had. Earlier Arif (46) had batted well to propel his team.

Noor Sunflower had earlier posted a good total of 215 for 8 in the allotted 25 overs despite losing wickets at regular intervals. Good contributions came from Babar (35), Imran Butt (34), Sajjad (23), Satish (27) and Shaikh (23 n.o.), which came handy for them while the bowling honours were shared by Imran, Shafi and Jaffery who snapped up two wickets apiece.

IBSONS score a comfortable win over Al Barraq

IBSONS were the other victors of the day who took care of debutante Al Barraq C.C. by a comfortable margin of 37 runs.

A good teamwork was their hallmark as most of their batsmen made useful contributions that helped them put up a formidable total of 213 all out in 25 overs. They were in trouble at 114 for 6 at one stage but Amir (29) and Shoaib (35) rescued the innings with good batting. Sajid (3 for 23) bowled a fine spell while Asif (2 for 24) provided good support. Waqar also picked up 2 for 62 but proved expensive.

Set to chase a stiff target, Al Barraq C.C. were rocked in the beginning and lost four wickets with the total reading a dismal 28. Asif, however stabilised the innings and hit a quick 57 off 43 balls with 3 fours and as many as 4 sixes. He got good support from Waqar (27) and Asad (36) but that was not enough as they ended at the final total of 176 for 9 to concede defeat. Man of the match Hamid (2 for 21) and Pervaiz (2 for 14) bowled well and dealt decisive blows to tilt the balance in their favour while Zaheer (2 for 34) also made a good contribution.
