Al Badar whipped Madras C.C.

Leading the way was Al Badar C.C. who made amends to their dismal showing in their last outing and whipped Madras C.C. by a wide margin of 88 runs. The batting lived up to its reputation as they responded splendidly to record 282 for 3 in the allotted 25 overs, that proved to be the highest total of the day.

Junaid Shakeel was their mainstay with a majestic century (100) off 65 balls including 15 fours and a couple of well struck sixes as he added 156 runs for the big third wicket in company of versatile Kashif Khan who stroked a fine unbeaten 67 off 41 balls with 8 fours and a solitary six.

Despite a mountain to climb, Madras C.C. responded well and fought gallantly till midway through the match but the tall order ultimately told on them and they folded at the final total of 194 for 8. Aby fought a lonely battle and stroked a swashbuckling century (110) off mere 56 balls with 8 fours and as many as 9 sixes to keep the slim hope alive but he did not get the kind of support needed to overcome such a steep target. The next best contribution came from Mohan (22) while Waseemuddin (2 for 31) was the most successful bowler.

Saby strikes in vain

A rare five-wicket haul from Saby of Emirates Abela could not save his team from defeat as they stumbled in their opening tie against MEXX Jashanmal and lost by 4 wickets. MEXX Jashanmal recovered well after conceding runs initially and dismissed Emirates Abela for a modest 167 in 20.5 overs. Muneer (48) and Ross (34) were the principal run getters while Milroy (3 for 19) did most of the damage.

MEXX Jashanmal in reply achieved the target in 18.2 overs with the help of a fine 81 from Nishantha who hit 8 fours and half a dozen sixes in his powerful knock.

Bin Belaila continue wining streak

Bin Belaila continued their winning streak and kept their unbeaten record intact when they scored a fluent 6 wickets victory over ECB Greens.

Though ECB Greens put up a good total of 186, that did not prove enough as Bin Belaila stuck to their task and scored a confident win. Nandana (50) and Suresh (42) led the way in a good all-round teamwork along with Menik (3 for 38) and Suresh (2 for 23). A fine knock of 80 from Abdullah of ECB Greens went in vain.

CTC scores thumping victory

CTC finally came back to their winning ways and scored a thumping victory over Grand Slam C.C. by 7 wickets. A spirited bowling effort and a pre-match pep talk from the skipper did the trick as CT bundled out Grand Slam C.C. for a paltry 84 in 15.5 overs. Man of the Match Rizwan (4 for 13) and Fareed (3 for 34) excelled after Shahenshah (2 for 34) had done the early hard work.

Set to chase a simple target, CTC achieved the target for the loss of three wickets in 12.4 overs.

Lanks Colts disposes Lanka Cubs

In an all Lankan affair, the seniors Lanka Colts kept their reputations intact and disposed of junior Lanka Cubs by a comfortable margin of 46 runs.

An excellent five-wicket haul from Tharinda (5 for 15) still proved inadequate as Lanka Cubs stumbled chasing a modest 164 for victory and were restricted to 117 for 7 in 25 overs to concede defeat by 46 runs.

The two Labroys, Shane (26) and Maxwell (23) anchored the batting for Lanka Colts while Ilham (27) and Shehan (21) did well for Lanka Cubs. Duminda (2 for 41) and Sri K (2 for 21) were the successful bowlers for the Colts and Cubs respectively.

Truebell thrashed A-One C.C.

Elsewhere Truebell C.C. flexed their muscles and thrashed A-One C.C. by 78 runs to continue their impressive run.

Skipper Gavin (55) led the strong batting display while Tarif (36) and Faiz Mohammed (36 not out) made useful contributions in the big total of 222 for 6 in 25 overs. Imran, Kanwal and Niamatullah tricked up two wickets a piece.

A - One C.C., in reply, could not match the effort and folded at 154 as man of the match Baber (4 for 17) ran through the innings with excellent figures. Farman (52) batted well along with Kanwal (25) and Ali Zulfiqar (30) while Malik (2 for 21) also made his mark.
