SCC XI down Malaysia

DANISH JABBAR

A highly competent performance from Sharjah Cricket Council Select XI enabled them to cruise to a facile 8 wickets victory over the visiting Malaysia National Cricket team in the first clash of the two match series at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Consistent Kashif Khan and diminutive Danish Jabbar lived upto their billing as they combined beautifully and wrote the script of the confident victory.

The duo played superbly to add an unbeaten 120 runs for the match winning third wicket that seated the fate of the match. Young Danish Jabbar struck a fine unbeaten 63 off 98 balls with 6 fours while the senior Kashif Khan complied a fluent unbeaten 78 off 84 balls with 8 fours and a six.

Earlier talented Asim Saeed had played with his customary fluency to hit a splendid half-century off 61 balls with 8 fours to launch the reply on a bright note though the early loss of young Atif Iftikhar at 13 had set them back initially. But Asim and Danish joined forces and batted sensibly to take the score to 85 before the former departed. Arrival of solid Kashif Khan ensured a good victory as he and Danish took complete command with increasing authority.

Malaysia had won the toss earlier and elected to bat first on a perfect batting track at the Sharjah Stadium. Their start was however, far from the perfect as the visitors lost three quick wickets in an inauspicious start that reduced them to a precarious 23 for 3 in five overs.

One drop Mattew Williams, though, dropped played a highly disciplined knock of unbeaten 83 runs off 144 balls with 4 fours and a couple of sixes to rescue the innings. He found a more than able foil in No. 5 K. Ramdas who played magnificently to strike an invaluable 79 off 97 balls with 6 fours and a six that lifted the final total to a respectable 204 for 6 in the allotted 50 overs.

Sajjad Butt, Asim, Danish, Sameer and southpaw Mohd shared bowling honors. Afzal who shared wicket apiece.

After the conclusion of the match, the visiting side was presented momentoes by Abdul Razak Kazim, Chief Selector ECB and Mazhar Khan, Administrator ECB and secretary Sharjah Cricket Council in presence of Ali Anwar Jafri and Ejazur Rahman of Sharjah Cricket Council.
