Improving with every outing, the Emirates Cricket Coaching Centre boys did
it again as a swashbuckling century and a brilliant 5 wicket haul were the
high points of their latest win over touring Raju C.C. from Hyderabad,
India by a big margin of 87 runs.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, ECCC went on the rampage as
one drop Ryan Chadda hammered the tourists to all the parts of the ground
to score a brilliant 100 off just 68 balls with 11 fours. The feature of
his innings was the quick running between the wickets as he picked up
singles at will. He was first involved in an 83 run partnership off just 48
balls with opener Wasim (30 off 28 balls with 2 fours) and then an equally
effective partnership worth 85 runs with Nabeel (37 off 33 balls with 4
fours) to completely demoralise the tourists. The innings ended in a
flourish as Rameez (14) and Shoaib (14 n.o.) hit quick fire knocks to help
their team reach the final total of 229 for 7 in the allotted 30 overs.
Naveen (3 for 44) was the only successful bowler.
Facing a stiff victory target, the tourists could not adjust to the alien
conditions as none of the batsmen except opener Ashish could apply
themselves. However, their real downfall started with the advent of Adil
Ehsan into the attack, who ripped open the middle order with his right arm
orthodox leg spin. He soon had the batting side gasping for breath as he
picked up five wickets for 28 runs in his quota of 6 overs. Adil Farooq,
Nabeel and Wasim picked up a wicket apiece while Rameez picked up the last
two wickets in his first over to dismiss the opponents for a modest 142 in
26.4 overs. The only silver lining for the tourists was the unbeaten 68
with 8 fours from opener Ashish who played a stellar knock as wickets
tumbled around him.
