Salman powers ECCC U-17 to victory

ECCC U-17 continued their winning streak when they defeated powerful Apollo Select XI, with the help of a brilliant century from Salman, by a huge margin of 71 runs.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, ECCC U-17 got off to a real flyer as opener Imran (45 off only 28 balls with 6 fours and a six) took the attack right to the bowlers. Sumit (41) also played a good knock but it was really century maker Salman (100) who caused most of the damage as he hit 12 balls to the boundary with one hit over the ropes. Najam added the late flourish to the innings when he hit a quick fire 47 off only 24 balls with a couple of fours and three huge sixes. Their combined effort allowed them to post a huge total of 269 for 5 in the allotted 35 overs. Fayyad (2 for 35) was the pick of the bowlers as Riaz, Wasim and Nadike each picked up a wicket apiece.

Facing a stiff target, Apollo XI were rocked on to the back foot when they lost their star player, Amir with only 5 runs on the board. However opener Vivek (58 off 58 balls with 5 fours and six) and one drop Nadike (40 off 41 balls) continued the fight for their team as they played sensibly before the latter got out. They never really recovered after that as leg spinner Adil (4 for 37) bowled superbly to make inroads into the batting. Asif (33 off 26 balls) tried gamely to make a match out of it but soon ran out of partners as wickets fell at regular intervals. Najam (3 for 32) and Salman (2 for 39) were the other bowlers to impress.

ECCC U-14 score a comfortable 6 wicket vicory

ECCC U-14 did well once again when they beat Unique Cricket Training U-14 by a huge margin of 6 wickets.

Electing to bat first, UCT got off to a disastrous start as they lost both their openers cheaply and they never really recovered after that. Sharan (41 with 6 fours) was the only silver lining of their innings as he fought a lonely battle among the ruins. Maisam (25) and Saeed (20) were the other principal run getters for their side as they eventually ended at a dismal 116 all out. Adil (3 for 20) was the pick of the bowlers while Nabeel (2 for 25) and Ali (2 for 17) provided good support.

Chasing a small target, ECCC achieved the target without much fuss for the loss of only 4 wickets. Rameez (40 with 5 fours) and man of the match Sunny (52 with 9 fours) ensured that there was no upset as they batted sensibly to achieve the target with three overs to spare. Said, Sharan, Mosin and Hamza each picked up a wicket for their team.
