Jayasuriya sets the standard in Sharjah

Jaysuriya punished some indisciplined bowling by the Zimbabweans in the first 15 overs. However, since then Zimbabwe have fought back and have restricted the Lankans to a challenging score of 276 in the forth game of the Coca Cola Chamions Tournament in Sharjah.

Sanath Jayasuriya opened the innings with Romesh Kaluwitharana, and went after the attack scoring 87 runs from just 66 balls, studded with 12 fours and 2 sixes.

BATTING

Sanath Jayasuriya got Srilanka off to a flyer and blazed 87 runs 66 balls with 14 fours and 2 sixes.
Kaluwitharana sacrificed his wicket to protect his captain from getting run out but played well for his 25 off 3 balls.
Marvan Atapattu solid as ever was amongst the runs as he scored solid 58 off 88 balls with a lone boundary.
Arnold chipped in with a useful18 from 25 balls.
Dilshan scored 16 off 30 balls.
Vaas and Weeraratne accelerated the tempo and scored 23 and 14 runs respectively in quick time.

Streak was expensive and his eight overs yielded 59 runs.
Pommie Mbangwa was also treated with disdain and was smashed for 36 runs from his 4 overs.
Friend though expensive claimed two wickets.
Flower bowled well and gave 29 runs from his 8 and also picked up 2 wickets.
Viljoen bowled economically and he conceded 38 runs from his quota of ten overs.
