ECB Green, Lloyds Bank, Truebell on the run

ECB caused a stir when they scampered past Seven Seas, elsewhere Lloyds TSB Bank and Truebell C.C. continued their impressive run in the Bukhatir League 30 Overs tournament organized by Sharjah Cricket Council.

ECB Green sink mighty Seven Seas

QASIM

Battling ECB Greens managed to scrape past gallant Seven Seas Strikers by 3 wickets to ensure their qualification for the next stage in the Bukhatir League 'B' Division 30 overs conducted by the Sharjah Cricket Council.

Chasing a big target of 232 for victory, ECB Greens got off to a poor start when they lost their opener Waleed, who was the man of the match in the last match, cheaply. However unfazed by the setback, opener Wahab (53) and one drop Qasim (66) played superbly and took the attack right to the bowlers to ensure that they were well and truly in the match. Their dismissal could have proved significant but Rashid (35) and Abdullah (37) ensured a close match. However their dismissal caused a flurry of wickets but in the end they scrambled home for the loss of seven wickets and only one ball to spare. Taun (3 for 30) and Tanveer (2 for 32) were the most successful bowlers.

Earlier, Seven Seas Strikers did extremely well to post 231 for 8 in their allotted 30 overs. They were indebted to Saleem who stroked 88 breezy runs. He was well supported by Zubair (52) and the duo almost single-handedly allowed their team to post the big total. The total would have been much bigger if it wasn't for Sameer who grabbed four wickets for 35 runs in a fine spell. Ausaf (2 for 31) was the other successful bowler.

Truebell edge out Madras C.C.

Truebell C.C. managed to keep their unbeaten run in the tournament so far intact when they edged past Madras C.C. by a narrow margin of 10 runs.

Chasing a big target of 228 for victory, Madras C.C. kept the fight alive right till the end with the help of the spirited reply from their batsmen. Suresh (64), Aby (60) and Anand (31) were the mainstay for their team and ensured a close game. The game could have had a different end if weren't for the brilliant bowling performances by man of the match Tarif Sharma (3 for 32) and Wahid (3 for 45) who did a wonderful job for their team to restrict the opponents to 117 for 9 in the allotted 30 overs.

Earlier Truebell C.C. did well to post a big total of 227 for 7 in 30 overs. It was Tarif Sharma (69) once again who led the way for them. Sajid Z (74) too was instrumental in their team's big total. Rahul (4 for 45) bowled brilliantly to make sure that his team didn't have to chase a massive total in the end.

Lloyds Bank too good for Star C.C.

Lloyds TSB Bank continued their impressive run in the tournament when they disposed off Star C.C. by 7 wickets.

Batting first, Star C.C. struggled to cope with the disciplined bowling as Mashood (3 for 14), Ajith (2 for 45), and Nafees (2 for 25) took command of the proceedings. M Rashid (56) was the only batsman to offer any resistance as they ended at a modest total of 166 all out in 29 overs.

Chasing a modest victory target of 167 for victory, Lloyds TSB Bank cruised to the target without much fuss for the loss of three wickets in only 19.4 overs. Kamal Bhagat (80) was the hero of the day for them as he, in company of Johanne (30 n.o.) and Ajith (28), helped wrap up the match in quick time. Azmat (2 for 29) was the most successful bowler.
