Emirates Bank dispose Classic Advertisers

Fancied Emirates Bank lived up to their reputation and disposed off fighting Classic Advertisers by a wide margin of 45 runs in the ongoing Bukhatir League 'B' Division - 25 overs, organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Emirates Bank did exceptionally well to score 254 for 5 from their allotted 25 overs. Openers Zulfiqar (53 off only 24 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes) and Akbar Rana (61 off 40 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes) helped their team get off to a good start. Salim Saeed (27 off 18) and Maqsood (47 off only 24 balls with 2 fours and 5 sixes) continued the good work as they eventually ended at a big score. Babu (2 for 29) was the only successful bowler.

Chasing a stiff victory target of 255, Classic Advertisers got off to a real flyer as the openers, Abdul Wahab (77 off only 46 balls with 6 fours) and Dominic (49 off 36 balls with 8 fours) put up 83 runs for the first wicket, scoring at over 9 an over. One drop Abrar (42 off 33 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes) continued the good work but the rest of the batting, however, folded in meekly as they finally ended at a good score of 213 for 8 in 25 overs. Akbar Rana (3 for 33) and Maqsood (3 for 46) proved to be the nemesis for them.

Sharjah C.C. down Emirates Airline 'B'

In another match, Sharjah C.C. proved their class when they disposed off Emirates Airline 'B' comprehensively by 6 wickets.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Emirates Airline 'B' never really got going as none of the batsmen, except Mahmood (67), could really apply themselves. It weren't for him, their final score of 141 all out in 25 overs would have been much smaller. Wajahat (3 for 31), Irfan Ansari (2 for 24) and Jameel (2 for 30) were the principal wicket takers.

Chasing a none too difficult target, Sharjah C.C. got off to a flying start scoring 65 runs in their first 5 overs. Jameel (27 off only 16 balls with 4 fours and six), Irfan Ansari (31 off only 14 balls with 5 fours and a six), Fauz (30), Jehangir (25) and Wajahat (17 n.o.) all contributed to overhaul the target and score 147 for 4 in only 16 overs. Niranjan (2 for 30) was the only successful bowler.
