Arshad Ali sparkles as Expats out smart Al Kabeer

Arshad Ali turned out a fine all-round performance as Expats CC tamed Al Kabeer by five wickets in the on going New Medical Centre (NMC Trophy) Division A' tournament organized by Abu Dhabi Cricket Council.

The victory insured Expats CC of a berth in the semi-final of this prestigious 'A' Division tournament. The talented all-rounder first snared 3 wickets and then slammed an unbeaten stroke filled century to help his team to a comfortable victory.

Al Kabeer, batting first were dismissed for 247 in 48 overs with useful contributions coming in from Sajjad Butt (48 off 40 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes) and Fayez Haider, who smashed 47.

Piyush, though expensive, bowled well and claimed 4 wickets for 61 runs, while man of the match Arshad Ali had figures of 3 for 42.

Set to chase a decent target, Expats CC, lost an early wicket with 1 run on the board. However, thereafter Expats C.C. never looked back with Arshad Ali smashing the bowlers all around. Arshad smashed and an unbeaten 102 runs off 91 deliveries.

Jairaj (33), Mashood (45) and Naeemullah (39) contributed handsomely to the Expats run chase and overhauled the target in 35.1 overs.

ECCC suffer third defeat

In another match, Emirates recorded a massive 194 runs victory over young ECCC to enter in to the last 4 slot of the NMC tournament

Emirates batting first after losing the toss started of aggressively with openers Khalid Khan and Shane Fernando scoring 31 runs and 44 runs respectively. The openers enjoyed a 84 runs first wicket partnership before Riaz provided the breakthrough for ECCC. Javeed Ismail weathered the bowling with some powerful hitting, scoring an entertaining knock of 67 runs off 57 balls with 3 fours and an equal number of hits over the rope.

Murali (30) and Rasheed Malik (29) were the other major contributors. For ECCC, Riaz Khaliq was the most successful bowler with 3 wickets but was clobbered for 71 runs from his quota of 10 overs. Tauseef Ahmed bowled economically and conceded 32 runs from his 10 over with a wicket to his name.

Chasing a daunting target of 298, ECCC succumbed to the pressure and skittled out for a paltry 104, to concede a defeat of 194 runs. Peter Rodriques captured 3 wickets for 16 runs from 7 overs, while Mohammed Imran and Rashid Malik took two wickets each.

Ramveer Rai (20) Tauseed Ahmed (22) and Mohammed Abdullah (27) resisted the pressure and reached their 20s.
