Phaktoon reign supreme

Another cavalier performance by Pakthoon Khaw earned them the winners trophy of the Senior division 'Jinnah Cup' organised by Al Ain Cricket Association. This is their second title in as many tournaments this season.

Batting first Pakthoon C.C., helped by half centuries from Arsalan and Imran piled up 275 runs in 40 overs.

Pakthoon C.C. should be grateful to their 4th wicket partnership between Arsalan (65) and Imran (70) which produced 122 runs after Arif had snared 3 top order wickets. Imran showed his penchant for batting under pressure when it matters most while Arsalan responded admirably.

Arif was the lone crusader for Al Maghreb returning with a rich haul of 4 wickets for 36 runs. Pakhtoon did well to compile a mammoth total of 275 in 40 overs.

Chasing a daunting target, Al Maghreb were off to a good start but lost their way in the middle. However, they recovered well after a slump with solid knocks from Arshad (64) and Irfan (63). They steadied the ship and placed the team back in contention for lifting the Trophy, but the unfortunate run out of Irfan dampened the spirits as well as the hopes of Al Maghreb, as they finally fell short of the taget by a narrow margin of 11 runs. Imran (3 for 52) and Daud (3 for 43) were the chief destroyers.
