Al Masaood set up meeting with AD Gymkhana

Al Masaood aided by an amazing knock of 164 from Nadeem Butt stormed in to the final of the Inter Continental Trophy organized by Abu Dhabi Cricket Council. They play with other finalists - AD Gymkhana who scraped past UNB by 2 wickets.

An amazing knock of 164 from Nadeem Butt helped Al Masaood Nissan Automobiles to a 26-run win in a thrilling semi-final of the Inter-Continental Trophy tournament at the Mussafah ground in Abu Dhabi.

Batting first, Al Masaood went on to score a mammoth total of 367 for 8 in 35 overs with their openers, Mohammed Irfan (32) and Jamal Zaidi (60) providing them with a perfect platform for a huge total. One drop, Butt went on rampage and belted 17 fours and 7 huge sixes in his innings of 164. His 94-ball stay at the wicket allowed Al Masood to post such a huge total on the board. Butt shared a 110-run second wicket partnership with Zaidi. Rizwan Shah also chipped in with 55 runs to prop up the final score. Ameer Maqsood was clubbed for 57 runs runs from his 5 overs but claimed 3 crucial wickets.

In reply, AD Gentlemen made a determined bid to save the match with a fine 60 by opener Amir Maqsood laying the foundation for the run chase. His opening partner, Badshah slashed 36 runs of 22 balls. Imran Zia did not lie down and hit a belligerent century to almost push Al Masaood to the dumps but his dismissal brought the end for AD Gentlemen as the tailenders caved in to the pressure to finally fold up for 341, falling short of the target by just 26 runs. Zia hammered 143 runs with the help of 16 fours and 6 sixes.

AD Gymkhana scrape past UNB 'B' by 2 wickets.

Omer Farooq of AD Gymkhana produced a fine all round display to edge out UNB 'B' by 2 wickets in the second semi final.

Batting first, UNB 'B' opener Mohammed Aslam's fighting 80 contributed to the bankers' total of 248. Habib-ur-Rehman and Omar Farooq made life difficult for the batsmen as these two shared 6 wickets between them. Habib-ur-Rehman bowled exceptionally well with 3 wickets to his credit for 33 runs while Omer Farooq claimed 3 wickets for 38 runs from his 4 overs.

In reply, AD Gymkhana led by Omer's unbeaten knock of 68 helped them to get the past the total in 34.2 overs for the loss of 8 wickets. Mehmood (43), Naveed (41) and Zafar (37) played an important role in the AD Gymkhana's successful run chase. For the bankers, Khalid Zaman and Shehzad took 3 & 2 wickets respectively.
