Saeed Al Saffar will lead the Emirates Cricket Board team in the ACC Trophy while
Mohammed Tauqir will be his deputy.
Naveed Anjum, former Pakistan test and one day international player is the coach of the
team. The other participating countries are Hong Kong, Malaysia, Nepal,
Singapore, Maldives, Japan, and Kuwait. The two-semi finals and the final will be
broadcast live. The winners and runners-up will play in the next Asia Cup to be played
in Pakistan, with India, Pakistan, Srilanka, and Bangladesh.
The Following 14 players have been selected for the forthcoming Pepsi-ACC Trophy UAE 2000
to be held in Dubai and Sharjah from the 15th of November till 24th November. The
tournament is organized by the Emirates Cricket Board in conjunction with the councils
of Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.
The Players are :
Saeed Al Saffar (Captain), Mohammed Tauqir (V. Captain), Salman Farooq,
Asim Saeed, Atif Iftikhar, Danish Jabbar, Mairaj Khaliq, Ahmed Nadeem, Baber Malik,
Mohd. Naeem, Memood Pir Bux, Kashif Khan, Nasir Siddiqui and Mohammed Afzal.
The four reserve players are :
Abdulla Hanif, Sameer Zia, Fardan Khalid and Sajjad Butt.
