Joy for Oman Insurance, Lanka Colts, GAC

Oman Insurance posted two emphatic victories on the same day while Zaima had to sweat for their thrilling win over Shivaki C.C. in the on going DCC League 'B' Division 25 overs organized by Dubai Cricket Council.

Butt's century leads the way for
Oman Insurance victory

Imran Butt smashed a blistering 137 off only 60 balls to lead Oman Insurance to a convincing eight wicket win over Mexx Jashanmal.

Butt was unstoppable as Oman Insurance set to chase the 206-run target set by Mexx Jashanmal. After Imran Butt (4) and Shaft Aqeel (0) had perished early to leave Oman at 11 for 2, Butt smashed the Jashanmal bowling all over to reach his century with ease. He hit 19 boundaries and an amazing eight sixes in his 60-ball stay at the crease. Aqeel lent useful support to his partner with an equally dashing 54 runs off 37 deliveries. Inayat was the lone successful bowler claiming both the wickets to fall.

Earlier, Jashanmal had done well to put up a challenging 205 for 9 in their allotted 25 overs. Nishantha top scored with 53, while Nadeem chipped in with 43 and Sulaiman added 23.

None of the other batsmen managed to weather the fierce Oman Insurance bowling attack and ended up at 205 for 9.

Ejaz and Afzal captured 2 wickets while Munawar Jaffrey, Imran, Henry and Bharat took a wicket each.

Butt deserved man of the match award with two wickets in addition to his dashing century.

Oman Insurance tame Mangalore C.C.

Powerful Oman Insurance won their second match of the day when they disposed off Mangalore C.C. by a comfortable margin of 5 wickets.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Mangalore C.C.'s opener Rodrigues (52) and one drop Sachin (30) played freely but Oman Insurance stormed in to the match with Kamran providing the first break through for Oman Insurance and there after wickets tumbled at regular intervals. Kamran snared three wickets while Munawar Jafrey struck twice in his over to further deepen the problems for Mangalore C.C. The bowlers shared the honours: Kamran bagged 3 while Ashwin, Asif and Munawar Jafrey bowled impressively and captured 2 wickets each.

Chasing 165 was always easy in face of strong Oman Insurance batting line up and they rightly proved that by over hauling the target in the 20th over. Opener Imran Butt scored 36 while Afzal (50) hit a fluent half-century and Asif contributed 35 in Oman Insurance's run chase.
