Bashir power's St. Mary's to big win
Omer Bashir powered himself to the only century of the week to lead St. Mary's
High School, Dubai to an overwhelming 99 run victory over The Indian High School,
Fujairah in the Second Al Rawabi Inter-School Tournament organized by
Dubai Cricket Council.
Electing to bat first, opener Bashir was unstoppable as he lashed 19 fours and
2 huge sixes to help himself to 130 runs in just 51 deliveries. His opening
partner Noaman Ali played a rather sedate knock of 65 runs which came from 49 balls.
Kehan Ali (37) and Ali Bashir (12) continued the good work as St. Mary's put up an
impressive 276 for 2 in their allotted 25 overs. Varinder was the lone bowler to get
any respect claiming both the wickets.
The Fujairah school reply was disastrous as their top three batsmen returned to the
pavilion with only 52 runs on the board. But Junaib(42) and Habib(35) tried to bring
in some respectability with some sensible batting, only to see the late order failing
apart as they were all out for 177. Crishan bagged three wickets, while Daniel picked
up two.

healthy contributions to put 209 for 6 in their allotted overs. Fayyad picked up
two wickets, while O Sayed and A Asghar took one each.
The Arab Unity reply was not as expected as they lost their first 5 batsmen
for only 67 runs. But Oayed Sayed played a gallant knock of 71 to lead his team
towards victory.
However, none of the other batsmen managed to keep up to the run-rate , except
Abdul (38) as Arab Unity fell short by a mere 5 runs. Mehul picked up 5 wickets,
