Abu Dhabi Duty Free Trophy from November 24.

The 12th edition of the Abu Dhabi Duty Free (ADDF) trophy, the third cricket tournament of the season 2000-2001, conducted by the Abu Dhabi Cricket Council (ADCC) will commence on November 24.

The announcement of the league-cum-knock out event was made by Inam-Ul-Haq, General secretary, ADCC, at a press conference on Wednesday evening.

"We expect some 26 to 30 teams to participate in the annual event and we are thankful to Abu Dhabi Duty Free who have been sponsoring the event for over a decade," said Haq.

Cash prizes and trophies, will be up for grabs at this competition. Besides trophies for winners and runners-up, there will be trophies for the Man of the match from the knock-out stage. Man of the match in the semi-finals and final will be eligible for cash prizes in addition to the trophies. There will also four individual awards for the best batsman, best bowler, best all-rounder and man of the tournament.

The draw will be held on Nov. 21. Iqbal Shah, catering Manager, Duty Free, said that it had been associated with the Council for the past 15 years in one way or other and had been sponsoring the event for the past 11 years.

"We are happy to be associated with the council in organising the event in line with Duty Free's policy of supporting public's activities. This has been possible due to the tremendous support given by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, chairman Department of Civil Aviation," said Shah.

Janefer Walsh, Public relations officer, Duty Free, thanked the council for giving another opportunity to host the event and said Duty Free is to support the event in the years to come.

Saeed Atiq Salem, Chairman, ADCC, who was also present at the press briefing, said the contract for the main cricket stadium will be signed on November 28. "Everything for the construction of the modern cricket stadium in Abu Dhabi is progressing well and now we have reached the stage of signing the contract with the contractors for landscaping and stadium," said Salem.
