SCC edge past DCC in NBD Trophy

Rival captains Khurram Khan and Syed Maqsood played leading roles in the first two day game played in the National Nank of Dubai Trophy. Sharjah Cricket Council edged past Dubai Cricket Council by 0.225 points as they accumulated a total of 7.13 points to Dubai Cricket Council’s 6.905 points.

Dubai Cricket Council on Monday issued an apology for the error in calculation of Points, which earlier stated that Dubai Cricket Council edged ahead Sharjah Cricket Council by 1.341.

Continuing from 84 for 2 wickets, Dubai declared their innings when they reached 189 for 6 wickets in 57 overs. Kashif Khan and Khurram Khan carried on their solid batting to put on 54 runs for the third wicket.

Kashif played a patient innings to score a sedate 42 runs in 87 balls, laced with 5 boundaries and a six while Khurram took on the responsibility, playing a captain’s knock of 66 runs in 83 balls including 5 hits to the fence and one over it..

Off spinner Sameer Zia was the bowler to shine for Sharjah with a rich haul of 4 wickets for 27 runs.

Sharjah started off badly in the second innings losing Sharan Kumar and Ramveer Rai to medium pacer Zahid Shah, who once again bowled a probing line.

Syed Maqsood was fortunate as he was dropped by Piyush Maloo hooking Zahid early in his innings and then fully capitalized on the lease to strike a superb 94 runs, studded with 6 fours. He was a trifle unlucky to miss his well deserved hundred as Khurram had him caught by Fahad

Sameer Nayak confirmed his worth to the middle order when he once again played a useful knock of 36 runs in 53 balls with 2 fours and a six.

Sharjah declared their second innings at 180 for 5 wickets in 49.4 overs as Zahid bagged 3 wickets and Khurram picked up 2 wickets for Dubai Cricket Council.

With very little time remaining Dubai finished on 15 for 1 in 7 overs to edge slightly ahead of a strong Sharjah Council team.

The next game will be hosted by Abu Dhabi Cricket Council at the magnificent Sheikh Zayed Stadium against Dubai Cricket Council on 12th and 13th April.
