Maybury Lanka hog limelight

It was the Lankans who hogged the limelight and dominated the prize presentation ceremony when they walked away with all the Special Awards on offer.

Andri Rafaelo bagged three individual prizes; His 345 runs tally earned him the Best Batsman Award while agile keeping behind the stumps bagged him the Best Wicket-keeper award and his supreme display all around spurred him to the pride of place award, Player of the tournament.

Shalinda of Maybury Lanka CC too walked away with a couple awards; his 10 wickets got him the Best Bowler award while his sharp work on the field (5 catches and 3 run outs) yielded him the Best Fielder Award.

Ejaz Ahmed, the chief guest said that it’s a great achievement by the ECT for holding an event of this caliber. “I am delighted and hence offer my services as and when needed in nurturing the stars of tomorrow,” he said.

BS Shetty of Shetty International congratulated the winners and consoled the losers, “Losers gain more than the winners. You learn the lessons and rectify your mistakes,” he said whilst referring to ECT A’s loss.

BS Shetty thanked ECT for giving him the opportunity to sponsor this event and hoped this tournament will be a regular fixture in the cricketing calendar.

Rashid Khan, PIA Academy Manager expressed his gratitude to ECT for inviting them and said, “I am sure the boys have learned a lot and hopefully next year we will come back and win the trophy.”

A delighted Tauseef Ahmed showed his appreciation to BS Shetty and all the participating teams and reiterated to his pledge that he will ensure that kids at his Academy get maximum exposure to turf wickets. “My aim is to provide quality training to kids,” he added.

Sanjay Ahuja on behalf of the ECT proposed a vote of thanks to all the sponsors, media, players, umpires and all those who have contributed every inch in making the event a grand success.
