Rampaging Raha ravage listless Lions

Visiting Raha CC was on rampage when they unleashed a display of extremes – a hostile bowling show followed by a wonderfully orchestrated batting chase. And in doing so comfortably exercised their command and authority to put an end to once formidable Lanka Lions by a thumping margin of 6 wickets on Wednesday in the ongoing CSS Homeward Bound Trophy for the XVI Sharjah Ramadan Floodlit cricket tournament – A Division, conducted by the Sharjah Cricket Council.

One of the two foreign teams to participate in this tournament, Raha CC looked a complete outfit as they went on to outclass the Lions, who looked to be woefully out of character and completely off-color.

Khalid Rasheed (3 for 14) led the rout as he bowled magnificently with unrelenting accuracy to rip the heart out of the Lanka Lions batting, which failed to ignite any form of excitement and was absolutely soporific given the fact they were playing their second game of the tourney.

Only Jehan Jayamon (29) and Janaka (25) demonstrated responsibility in their approach with determined cameos but the rest of the batting showed no sense at all as Lanka Lions buckled to be bowled out for a disappointing 103 in 32.3 overs.

Khalid Rashed started the slide while Hyder Ali (2 for 20 and Tariq (2 for 21) kept on the pressure to outline Lanka Lion’s lackluster showing .

Set to overcome this formality, Raha CC continued to impress and took their own sweet time to acclimatize to the conditions. They batted with care and caution to achieve their objective in style in 32.1 overs for the loss of 4 wickets.

Man of the match Azhar Ali dropped anchor and batted as well as you can expect to stroke a classy unbeaten 46 while Mohd Aslam (15 not out) rendered useful support to him as the duo sealed the last nail in the coffin after Qasim (14) had given a reasonable impetus.
