Dulsco back in business

BY : SYED SHAHZAD AFZAL.
Title contenders, Dulsco who started their campaign on a faulty note were back in business on Wednesday night, when they cruised to a convincing 6-wicket victory over Al Rabwah CTG in the ongoing Consolidated Shipping Gold Cup, conducted by Sharjah Cricket Council.

Chasing 129 to win, Dulsco overhauled the target for the loss of 4 wickets in 23.5 overs, after Al Rabwah CTG electing to bat first were shot out for a paltry 128 in 29.5 overs.

A target of 129 was always going to be difficult to defend and Dulsco ensured there are no upsets this time when they achieved the target without much fuss. Rashid and Zulfiqar shared an unbeaten 50 runs for the fifth wicket partnership to steer their side past the target, after Dulsco slumped to 81 for 4.

Rashid who has been in good form this season top scored with a gritty 44 not out off 36 balls, studded with 4 fours and a couple of glorious sixes. Zulfiqar Butt, accompanied him till the end and chipped in with a breezy unbeaten 17 off 25 balls. Opener, Taskeen hit 24 off 39 balls with 5 fours to set the tone for the victory charge.

Zameel (2/27) was pick of the bowlers while Atif (1/19) and Rajesh (1/18) were the other bowlers who tried in vain.

Earlier, Al Rabwah CTG could not apply themselves against a disciplined bowling attack and were skittled out for a paltry 128 in 29.5 overs. Atif top scored with a patient 33 while Zameel (20) and Zubair (14) were the other batsmen who resisted briefly. Zulfiqar wrapped up the tail with 3 wickets for 19 runs while Sajid (1/23) and Ishtiaq (2/22) had earlier done the damage with fine spells.

Zulfiqar Butt was adjudged the man of the match for his match winning all round performance.
