Watching the Ball
In order to maximise your chances of playing the correct shot, it is imperative that you watch
the ball straight out of the bowlers hand. By concentrating on the delivery action of the wrist
and hand this increases the opportunity to see the ball as early as possible.
Balance
If you can visualise that you have a 'X' in the middle of your forehead, you should line the 'X'
up with the line of the ball so that your body weight is in the correct position to play the
shot. Do not let your head fall away.
Early in the Innings
You need to play with a straight bat to 'get your eye in'. Focus on the V from extra cover round
to mid wicket, in doing that you will be using a straight bat.
Mental state of mind
Be confident and positive. You need to be ready to hit the loose ball as well as play defensive
shots. Have positive thoughts both in attack as well as defense.
Building an innings
It is very important to set yourself small attainable targets. Start with counting in 10's until
you reach your 50 or 100.
